How to list your property on UrbanEstate (free, step by step)

A step-by-step guide for landlords, agents and owners: create an account, add photos, set your price and publish a rental, sale or land listing anywhere in Kenya — free.

Whether you have a bedsitter in Kasarani, a maisonette in Syokimau or an acre in Nyandarua, you can put it in front of people searching in your county in about ten minutes. Listing on UrbanEstate is free. Here is exactly how to do it.

Step 1: Create your account

Go to Create account and choose "I'm listing". Enter your name, email, a Kenyan phone number (07… or 01…) and a password of at least 8 characters. Pick your county if you like. You are signed in straight away and taken to the listing form.

Step 2: The basics

  • Title — say what it is and where: "Spacious 2 bedroom apartment in Kilimani, near Yaya Centre" beats "Nice house".
  • Description — what the space is like and what is nearby.
  • Property type — bedsitter, single room, studio, 1, 2 or 3+ bedroom, maisonette, bungalow, townhouse, hostel or student room, shop, office, warehouse or land.
  • Category — rent for monthly rentals, sale for houses and apartments you are selling, land for plots and farms.
  • Price in KES — for rentals this is the monthly rent. Don't hide it; listings with a clear price get more serious enquiries.

Step 3: Location

Choose the county first, then start typing the town or estate — we suggest the common ones for that county (for example Ruaka, Ruiru, Juja or Thika in Kiambu). Finally add a road or landmark such as "off Kiambu Road, near Ridgeways Mall". Don't publish your exact house number; share it with serious enquirers.

Step 4: Details and amenities

Add bedrooms and bathrooms (skipped automatically for land), then tick what's included, such as water, electricity tokens, parking and security. Use the description to cover what the checkboxes don't — deposit terms, when it's available, and what is nearby.

Step 5: Photos

Add up to 10 photos straight from your phone. They upload while you fill in the form, we shrink them automatically so they work even on mobile data, and each one is watermarked "Posted on URBAN ESTATE" to discourage people copying them. Your first photo becomes the cover. Read our guide to taking listing photos with your phone.

Step 6: Publish and manage

Click Publish listing and it goes live in search for its county and town. You'll find it under My Listings. Our team reviews listings, and ones we have checked carry a Verified badge.

Listing rules in short

  • Only list property you own or are authorised by the owner to advertise.
  • Use real, current photos of the actual property.
  • Keep the price and availability accurate; remove it once it's let or sold.

The full rules are on our listing standards page. Questions? Call or WhatsApp our team — we'll help you get your first listing up.
