Kenya's property market isn't only Nairobi. Growing towns across the country offer more space for the money, shorter commutes and a slower pace of life. Here is where people look in the main towns — use the links to see current listings.
Mombasa and the coast
Nyali and Bamburi on the north mainland are the most searched, with apartments close to the beach and malls. Kizingo on the island is central and established, while Shanzu and Mtwapa (Kilifi County) further north attract holiday and long-stay renters. Kisumu
Milimani is the established upmarket area near the city centre, Riat Hills offers views over the lake, and Mamboleo, Kondele and Nyalenda cover a wide range of budgets. Kisumu County.
Nakuru

Eldoret

Satellite towns around Nairobi
- Thika, Ruiru and Juja (Kiambu) — along the Thika Superhighway; strong student and family rental demand. Kiambu County.
- Syokimau, Athi River and Machakos town (Machakos) — close to JKIA and the SGR. Machakos County.
- Kitengela, Ongata Rongai and Ngong (Kajiado) — popular for plots and first family homes. Kajiado County.
Mount Kenya and the central highlands
Nanyuki (Laikipia) is a favourite for weekend homes and remote workers, while Nyeri, Karatina and Meru have steady rental markets driven by schools, hospitals and county offices. Nanyuki · Nyeri County · Meru County.
Tips for buying outside Nairobi
- Visit in person — photos can't show road access in the rainy season.
- Check water sources and electricity connection costs for land.
